The Take Care of Texas 6-12 Video Contest and K-5 Art Contest have combined to become the Take Care of Texas K-12 Art Contest! The contest has moved to Fall, and entries are accepted starting October 5th. Students can submit a piece of artwork portraying ways Texans can reduce waste for the chance to win hundreds to thousands of dollars in prizes! This is a great opportunity for students to get involved in environmental stewardship and showcase their creativity!
As America celebrates its 250th anniversary, the annual I Am Texas Writing and Art contest for 2027 will become the I Am America Writing and Art contest! This year’s contest invites students to explore the people and values that shape our nation and showcase the best of who we are as Americans. Inspired by the values of Courage, Sacrifice, Commitment, Integrity, Citizenship, and Patriotism exemplified by Medal of Honor Recipients, students will help tell the story of America: who we have been, who we are, and who we aspire to become.
The 2027 I Am America Contest Opens July 4, 2026 and closes on Presidents Day (February 15, 2027)
This opportunity has been inspired by a partnership between the National Medal of Honor Museum, iWRITE Literacy Organization, and The Bryan Museum in collaboration with the New York Times bestselling author and illustrator team, Brad Meltzer and Christopher Eliopoulos, creators of the “Ordinary People Change the World” Children’s Book Series.
