🚀 The new membership year is officially here! Find your perfect fit & join today.
Dear Round Rock ISD PTA Leaders,
It is an absolute honor to welcome you to the 2026–2027 school year and the start of a new membership year as the new President of the Round Rock ISD Council of PTAs!
I’ve been an active part of this district for over a decade—first as a mom to three RRISD students (including two Early College High School grads and a current sophomore) and as a board member at Old Town, Walsh, ECHS, and the Council PTA. I am stepping into this leadership role ready to hit the ground running. With the 90th legislative term right around the corner, my mission is clear: to advocate tirelessly for our students, staff, families, and public education right here in Round Rock ISD.
We have a big mission ahead of us—to make every child’s potential a reality—and I couldn’t ask for a better community to work alongside.
Sometimes advocacy feels like a mountain to climb, but real change usually starts with the small stuff: a single training session that empowers a volunteer, or one conversation that helps a family feel heard. This is a pivotal year for us, and we are focusing on the basics—advocacy and local training—to make sure our impact is felt by every child in our district.
To reach our full potential, we are looking for a few more leaders to join our Council Board. Stepping into a role is a "small act" of service that creates a massive ripple effect across our entire community. We are currently looking for dedicated individuals to fill the following positions:
VP Programs
Parliamentarian
Advocacy Chair
Healthy Lifestyles Chair
If you have a passion for empowering families and want to help us give our local boards the support they need to thrive, I’d love to have you on the team.
I am beyond excited to see what we can achieve together this year. Let’s roll up our sleeves, support one another, and make a big impact!
Warmly,
Kendall Reass
President, RRISD Council of PTAs
This year, as your Membership Vice President, I'm excited to celebrate the great work our PTAs are doing to grow membership! We'll follow the Texas PTA Membership Awards rubric, and I'll be rolling out fun Council membership challenges throughout the year - announced at our delegate meetings, with celebrations for campuses that meet them.
Growing membership matters more than ever. Every new member adds a voice for PTA's advocacy - and with an important legislative year ahead, more members means a stronger, louder voice for our students at the Capitol.
In honor of Council President Kendall's 50th birthday on August 25, we're challenging every campus PTA to give her a birthday gift that benefits students: recruit 50 student members while reaching 85% of last year's total membership.
Imagine the impact if every school welcomed 50 new student members! Together, we can grow our student engagement, advocacy, and our PTA community.
Questions about membership, awards, or challenges?
Email membership@rrisdpta.org - I can't wait to celebrate your milestones this year!
Before the beginning of the school year gets underway, be sure to check these items off of your To-Do List!
📋Complete Mandatory Training: You must complete the Foundations Essentials training within 30 days of your election or appointment. Access this module through the Texas PTA Online Training portal.
🏦Bank Signature Updates: Ensure you, the new president, and other designated officers are authorized signers on all bank accounts before the school year kicks off.
💲Approve the Budget: Work with your budget and finance committee to draft an operating budget, which must be presented and voted on by your general membership at the very first meeting of the school year.
📃Check Tax and Filings: Ensure the outgoing treasurer has filed the IRS Form 990. Additionally, keep your Sales Tax Permit on file so you can file returns with the Texas Comptroller as required.
💰Sticking to the Basics: Verify that all cash funds are counted by at least two people and documented using a standard Deposit Form before they are deposited. Never pay for bills using cash, and ensure every disbursement is accompanied by a PTA Funds Request Form.
✅Monthly Reconciliations: Ask a non-signer on your board to review and initial your bank statements monthly using the Statement Review by Non-Signer Form, available on the Texas PTA Treasurer Resources page.
🎉Attend Training Day: Saturday, August 29th from 8:30am - 4:00pm at Westwood HS

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our recent Presidents & Principals event, Partners in Potential! It was a privilege to gather our campus leaders and parent leaders in the same room to work together as true peers.
During our time together, we focused on aligning our PTA purpose with Round Rock ISD's core foundations. Here is a quick look at what we covered:
Embracing Our Core Focus Areas: We discussed grounding this year's work in two central areas: 'Back to Basics' to strengthen our local training, and 'Small Acts, Big Impact' to drive our advocacy ahead of the legislative session.
Building True Collaboration: We explored how to move beyond simply coordinating schedules to truly planning together. This means sharing a vision, co-creating events, and aligning a purposeful budget from the very beginning to support specific campus goals.
Data & Goal Setting: Attendees spent time looking at historical membership data and setting realistic growth goals for the 2026–2027 school year.
Next Steps & Materials: While our time was shortened and we couldn't complete the Shared Commitments exercise in person, the Campus Alignment Toolkit was designed specifically to guide those low-pressure conversations back on campus. We encourage principals and PTA presidents to sit down together later this month to walk through those reflection steps and align your expectations for the year.
We will be sharing full access to all presentation materials and toolkits later this month so you can easily put them to use!
Another legislative session is approaching, and Texas PTA is identifying our legislative priorities for the 90th. As part of that effort, they want to hear from our Local PTA leaders. They are offering an opportunity for Local leaders and hope it works with your schedule.
Register here for August 10 at 7:00 pm (Council & Local leaders)
In the meantime, please take a look at some Texas PTA highlights from the 89th.
